Asphalt Paving

When you have made the decision to have a new asphalt driveway installed keep Richard M. Wells & Son Paving at the top of your list. Our professional staff will come in and install or replace with a new asphalt driveway with spectacular curb appeal. We will take out any existing material and regrade the driveway or parking lot and if needed put in a stone base and roll for a solid base. After the stone base is in place we will do a base and a top of asphalt. We will roll again to finish for that great curb appeal that you want with your new driveway. Seal Coating

After you have had a new asphalt driveway installed we recommend waiting at least one year before having us back to seal coat. Sealing your driveway helps with the maintenance and keeps up the curb appeal that you want. Sealing your driveway can be done in two different ways - sprayed on - or applied by hand. We do both here at Richard M. Wells & Son Paving. It is recommended to have your driveway sealed every three years however you can have it done every year to keep your new asphalt driveway looking nice, like it was just installed. There are two types of sealer that can be applied depending on your driveway. We will use either a latex sealant or a petroleum sealant.

Tar & Chip

Hot Tar & Chip is another option if you are interested in something not quite as expensive but looks nice and is low maintenance. Hot Tar & Chip is a good way to keep the dust under control and is also good for long driveways and farms with long private roads. We will come in and grade & prep the area to be done with our tar truck. We will then spray down a layer of hot tar. One of our dump trucks will then follow behind laying down the chip (little pieces of stone or stone dust). The stone is put down while the tar is hot. We recommend at least two layers of Hot Tar & Chip to be applied depending on the size of your driveway / private road. View Tar & Chip Photos in our Gallery >

Crack Filling

You will notice that you will develop some cracks in your asphalt driveway with age and weather conditions. Even the most well maintained asphalt driveway will get cracks. We will use our specialized equipment to clean and remove all debris from the crack before any filler is placed in the cracked area. Depending on how deep the crack is, we may have to use sand to fill in before the asphalt crack filler is applied. Hot tar is used to fill in cracks before we seal.
